Grid balancing payouts

How are earnings from Grid Balancing paid out to me?

The payment of income from grid balancing depends on the type of service you participate in (rPOWR and/or ePOWR) and your energy supplier.

Earnings from rPOWR

If you only participate in rPOWR, the grid balancing service that LIFEPOWR provides for the grid operator Elia, your earnings are paid out directly by LIFEPOWR.

Payments are made three months after the month in which the service was delivered, directly to your bank account. This is because Elia also applies a three-month payment term.

Example:

Income from grid balancing services in February will be paid to your account at the beginning of May.

In the app, you will also find a clear overview of your expected payments, as shown in the picture.

Earnings from ePOWR

When you generate earnings through ePOWR, it is not paid out directly by LIFEPOWR. Instead, the earnings are automatically deducted from your energy bill.

If you receive earnings from both ePOWR and rPOWR, the total amount is also deducted from your electricity bill. In the myFlexiO App, earnings are always shown in the month in which it was earned.

How and when these earnings are settled on your energy bill, may vary depending on your energy supplier (we are working to get this information inside the MyFlexiO app).

Because it can sometimes cause confusion, you’ll find an overview per supplier in this page further below.

Earnings from both rPOWR and ePOWR

If you were already receiving rPOWR earings, the earnings from previous months will still be paid out by LIFEPOWR as usual.

However, from the month of activation onwards, all grid balancing income (rPOWR and ePOWR) will be settled through your electricity bill.

Once you are active on ePOWR and also have rPOWR, the payout schedule will disappear from the “Earnings” page in your MyFlexiO app. Don’t worry, your planned payments are still registered and will be paid out as you are used to.

Trevion: LIFEPOWR By Trevion

Trevion settles all earnings within the same month. Earnings from April, for example, is deducted from your April electricity bill.

Both ePOWR and rPOWR income are combined and deducted from your electricity bill under the description “Flex vergoeding FlexiO”.

This way, you get a clear view of your total electricity cost for each month at a glance.

Energy Knights: Optima

Energy Knights settles all earnings with one month delay. Earnings from April, for example, is deducted from your May electricity bill. However, the income is usually visible earlier in your Energy Knights customer portal.

Both ePOWR and rPOWR income are combined and deducted from your electricity bill under the description “Flex Coins FlexiO”.

More tariffs coming soon…

Switching from an ePOWR Tariff to a “non” ePOWR tariff?

If you do not have rPOWR income, your ePOWR earnings will still be settled by your energy supplier.

If you do have rPOWR income, this will be taken over again by LIFEPOWR from the month after you stop using a compatible energy tariff.

At the moment ePOWR is deactivated, the rPOWR payout schedule will become visible again. This may make it seem like the last three months will be paid by LIFEPOWR, but in reality, these are still paid by your energy supplier.

From the month after your switch to a non-compatible energy supplier, rPOWR income will be paid out by LIFEPOWR again, under the conditions described above in this article.
