Alpha ESS

General

Alpha ESS is implementing the SUnspec protocol so we do not need to do a classic inverter integration.

As soon as they have implemented the sunspec protocol, we can start testing on a test site that will be given by Sunergy or Insaver as soon as we have a timeline to test.

NOrmally, this will be possible as from end of october ‘25.

Instructions

SMILE-S3.6, SMILE-S5, SMILE-S6, SMILE-B5

  • A SFTP cable should be rewired at 1 side connection white/blue to pin 1 and blue to pin 2

  • This new connector has to be plugged into the LMGS-cable from Lifepowr.

  • An easier alternative for this connection is in the making but still in test fase.

Sunspec activation

AlphaESS :

Our current transitional approach is as follows: we have incorporated logic into the device firmware such that when the device undergoes its first software upgrade from non-Sunspec-compliant to Sunspec-compliant software, the Sunspec protocol is automatically activated. Additionally, we have implemented remote commands to enable or disable the Sunspec protocol.

Instructions:

  1. When the device connects to the network, our after-sales department can remotely upgrade it.

  2. The installer may contact our after-sales service during installation or provide the device's serial number to our after-sales personnel in advance.

  3. Our after-sales staff will then pre-configure the upgrade service.

  4. Upon detecting the device's online status, our server will initiate the upgrade. This approach depends primarily on the on-site requirements and urgency.
