Compatible Energy Tariffs with FlexiO

Your energy tariff

You always have the freedom to choose your type of energy contract. To get the most out of FlexiO, it is more beneficial to switch to a Flex tariff or a dynamic tariff. FlexiO can ensure that you inject or take-off power at the most optimal times, allowing the same system to generate more savings.

You have understood correctly: the listing of your energy tariff in the FlexiO account is very important. Your energy tariff is a key parameter for FlexiO. It is the basis for intelligent control and the calculation of savings. You can always change the tariff settings yourself: How to change your tariff.

Compatible types of energy tariffs

Dynamic tariff

This tariff is based on the day-ahead wholesale market. Actual prices are known the day before so FlexiO can take the energy prices into account on forehand to optimise it’s energy control.

You also have to choose the time interval: 1 hour, or 15 minutes. The time interval depends on what your energy supplier offers. You can find it on your contract, or contact your energy supplier.

This is an advantageous energy rate for FlexiO.

Flex tariff

The tariff is based on the day-ahead wholesale market, but also gives access to the real-time imbalance markets. A Flex tariff is a cooperation between LIFEPOWR and an Energy Supplier. With combining knowledge and forces, these tariff types result in the lowest energy price possible. Read everything about Flex tariffs here.

This is the most advantageous energy rate for FlexiO.

Fixed tariff

For your energy off-take or injection, FlexiO uses a fixed price. The price to be entered is for energy only, excluding taxes and fees, these are calculated separately by FlexiO.

You can indicate whether your meter is a single or double (with day/night hours).

This is the least advantageous energy rate for FlexiO.

Variable tariff

A variable tariff is based on the wholesale market price over a longer time (typically one or three months). As the exact formula differs per supplier, and sometimes the market price is not known beforehand, FlexiO uses an average value.

You can indicate whether your meter is a single or double variant (with day/night hours).

This is the least advantageous energy rate for FlexiO.

Non-compatible types of energy tariffs

In theory, every tariff is compatible with FlexiO. Allthough there are special tariffs on the market, that are not suitable for an EMS (Energy Management System) such as FlexiO.

An example of energy rates that are not compatible with FlexiO, are rates that work with different time slots such as the Engie Empower tariff.

Extra: Dynamic tariff time interval

Since October 2025, the time interval for a dynamic tariff can be either 1 hour, 30 minutes or 15 minutes. This means that the price changes every 1 hour, 30 minutes or 15 minutes (until then, only 1 hour was available on the market).

What time interval is used for your tariff depends on the electricity supplier and the contract. Some suppliers changed all contracts at the same time, some do it when the contract is renewed, some have not supplied information yet.

The suppliers for which we have information:

  • Engie: when your contract is renewed (so you have to update it manually in MyFlexiO)

  • Ecopower: switched on October 1st 2025 (all FlexiO installations were updated)

  • Trevion: switched on October 1st 2025 (all FlexiO installations were updated)

  • EBEM: switched on October 1st 2025 (all FlexiO installations were updated)

  • Energy Knights: you can choose between 15min and 1h contracts (so you have to update it manually in MyFlexiO)
