The Impact of Grid Balancing on Your Energy Bill
The basic principles of grid balancing are actually quite simple: there must always be a balance between consumption (demand) and production (supply) on the electricity grid. When this balance is disrupted, it can lead to consequences such as equipment failures, grid outages, damage, etc. for everyone.
What is the impact of grid balancing on your energy bill?
Grid balancing can increase the measured energy flows on your digital meter (in kWh). Both your consumption and injection will rise, which will negatively impact your energy bill. This is because you receive less on your bill for a kWh you inject compared to a kWh you consume. As mentioned before, FlexiO compensates all costs you made through grid balancing to make sure you always make profit from actions taken by FlexiO.
How do I profit from grid balancing if it negatively impacts my energy bill?
In both types of grid balancing, FlexiO will always make sure that every action taken yields a net benefit fot you.
If grid balancing has a cost on your energy bill, FlexiO tracks this cost including taxes and fees.
The total income you receive includes both compensation for the increased energy costs (if there are) and your share of the grid balancing revenues.
So, while it may feel like you are saving less now, FlexiO ensures a greater overall benefit for you!
How do I get paid for my participation to grid balancing?
If you only participate in rPOWR (in the case that you do not have a compatible ePOWR Tariff to participate in ePOWR) FlexiO will reimburse your earnings directly onto your bank account. The payment period is always 3 months later.
If you participate in ePOWR your earnings will be directly deducted from your energy bill at the end of every month. Easy, transparant and no hassle!
If your installation meets the technical requirements, you can combine eBalancing with rPOWR and both profits gets detucted from your energy bill monthy!
Savings and Earnings through FlexiO
What are the benefits of grid balancing with FlexiO?
Installing solar panels and a smart battery system requires a significant budget. However, thanks to this investment, you can already save a lot on your energy bill.
You can get even more out of your system by looking beyond just the energy bill: the energy transition is in full swing and requires systems like batteries and/or charging stations to help adapt the grid to the future.
When your system meets the requirements, you can be part of this future-oriented electricity grid. The great thing about this is that you do not only contribute to a CO2-neutral society, but you also generate income through your own installation, further lowering your energy costs, and increasing the return on your investment.
